Commentary:
This bill addresses a number of matters regarding the operations and organization of the Department of State. The bill would empower the Secretary of State to authorize Department of State uniformed guards to protect buildings and areas within the United States for which the Department of State provides protective services and, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, to promulgate regulations that relate to the administration of the buildings and areas so protected. The violation of any of those regulations would be punishable by imprisonment for up to 6 months, a fine as determined under Title 18, or both.
